Did you know?

20% Genes
80% How and where you live

Classic twin studies suggest only about 20% of how long you live comes from your genes. The other 80% is shaped by how you live and where you live.

Danish twin study, 1996 · Herskind et al.

Why?

Scientists still argue about the exact split—estimates in newer studies range widely. Big studies agree that everyday habits matter a lot for most people. We never say you control 80%; we share what classic twin studies suggest about genes versus lifestyle.

    Rosero-Bixby et al., 2013

  • 🚶

    Movement

Move naturally all day: walk, take the stairs, or a short walk after a meal.

    Sardinia, Italy

Sardinian villages with more shepherds, steeper hills and longer walks to work had more men living to 100.

    Pes et al., 2013

  • 😴

    Sleep

Sleep and rest that fit your day, with a quick evening check-in.

    Ikaria, Greece

    Legrand et al., 2021

  • 🧘

    Mind

A few calm minutes a day: a walk, prayer, breathing, or a quiet break.

    Across studies

Daily pause rituals—from a short walk to quiet prayer—show up in studies of everyday life in long-lived communities.

Two ages. Only one moves every day.

Your Real Age is your birthday. Your Lifestyle Age is an estimate of how your everyday habits compare with the world's longest-living communities—it can move a little as your habits add up.

In a Harvard study of 123,000 Americans, 5 healthy habits were linked to 12–14 more years of life expectancy at age 50.
Li et al., Circulation, 2018

Lifestyle Age is an estimate, not a medical test or a measure from a lab.

Five places. One idea you can copy.

Researchers found five places where unusually many people live into their 90s and 100s, often in good health. We call them the world's longest-living communities.

  • Okinawa, Japan

In 1949, sweet potato gave Okinawans about 69% of their daily calories—alongside vegetables, tofu and stopping at comfortable fullness.

    Willcox et al., 2007

  • Sardinia, Italy

In Sardinia's mountain villages, almost as many men as women reach 100—beans, minestrone and walking steep hills are part of daily life.

Poulain et al., 2004 · Pes et al., 2013

  • Nicoya, Costa Rica

A 60-year-old man in Nicoya, Costa Rica, was about 7 times more likely to reach 100 than a Japanese man in published comparisons.

    Rosero-Bixby et al., 2013

  • Ikaria, Greece

On the Greek island of Ikaria, people over 90 were far more common than the European average—greens, beans, olive oil and afternoon rest.

    Panagiotakos et al., 2011

  • Loma Linda, California

California Seventh-day Adventists (many live around Loma Linda) lived about 7 years (men) and 4 years (women) longer than other Californians in a long-running study.

    Fraser & Shavlik, 2001

Why? Some researchers question parts of extreme-age records worldwide. LifeJojo leans on habits backed by large studies—the five places are the inspiration, not a guarantee for any one person.

Questions

Is LifeJojo medical advice?

No. LifeJojo is a wellness and habit app for adults 18+. It helps you build everyday eating and lifestyle habits inspired by the world's longest-living communities. It is not a medical device and does not diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any medical condition. Always talk to a doctor about your health.

What is Lifestyle Age?

Lifestyle Age is a fun, research-based estimate of how your self-reported habits compare with large population studies—not a medical test or a lab measurement of your body. It moves gradually (at most 0.1 year per day) as your daily habits add up.

How is it calculated?

Our server applies a fixed, versioned formula to your quiz answers and daily check-ins—smoking, activity, diet quality, sleep, social contact and more—using published cohort studies. Full methodology and sources live in the app under Profile → How we calculate.

Do I need a smartwatch or wearable?

No. LifeJojo does not require a wearable. Movement and sleep come from your evening check-in and what you tell us—no always-on sensors.

Does it know the food where I live?

Meal scan identifies foods from your photo and suggests swaps in plain language for your country and units. You can edit every item if the AI misses something.

Do you count calories?

No calorie targets. Meal Score rates food quality—plants, beans, whole grains and how processed the meal is—so you can focus on habits, not a daily calorie number.

How does the free trial work?

Monthly is pre-selected at $9.99/month with a 3-day free trial. You will not be charged if you cancel at least 24 hours before it ends. We remind you before it ends. Yearly is $49.99, about 58% less than 12 months at $9.99.

How do I cancel?

Cancel anytime in your Apple or Google subscription settings. Steps also appear in the app under Profile → Subscription.

What happens to my meal photos and data?

Photos are stored in private storage for your history. They are sent to our AI provider only to score the meal after you scan. Health data is never sold or used for ads. You can delete your account and data in the app.

Who is LifeJojo for?

Adults 18+ who want simple daily habits inspired by the world's longest-living communities. Users under 18 cannot create an account. If you report pregnancy or an eating disorder, gentle mode hides weight and calorie-style content.

Why these five places?

Demographers mapped Okinawa, Sardinia, Nicoya, Ikaria and Loma Linda because unusually many people there lived long, healthy lives. We use them as inspiration for habits backed by large studies—not as proof that any one person will live longer.
